RANCHO DAZE!

On a most recent Sunday morning I was filled with emotion when I discovered that after 22 1/2 years of hosting my beloved CBS Sunday Morning, Charles Osgood was bidding his final farewell. As I am prone to do (even while watching ANY commercial that shows a puppy or a Clydesdale pulling a sleigh) I welled up with tears as I thought of all the Sundays -- week after week, month after month and year after year that Charles (I wouldn't dare to be so casual to call him "Charlie".) would start my week with a gracious and kind smile and then sign off with a wonderfully whimsical "I'll see you on the radio."

Ruminating on my emotional response, I realized that "I can either be sad or be grateful for all the lovely times Charles brought to my life." That led me to another thought. (And yes, this is a glimpse into how my rambling mind works...) How grateful -- truly grateful -- I am for all the talented staff at our Club who knock themselves out to make every day a "Rancho Day" for me as well as each and every lucky -- truly lucky --Association member.

Indeed, the month for Rancho Days throughout the Covenant is upon us and the traditional month for thankfulness is November. Yet there is no better time than the present to take stock of all the goodness that is around us. I was knocked out in our House Committee meeting last week when Al, Juan, Shanon and Catherine casually mentioned that they were working on the social calendar for the first NINE months of 2017. Really? Without all of us even knowing it, these talented troopers are ardently working on making US HAPPY far into NEXT YEAR!!! Ever think about that?

Not to mention we now scored an Executive Chef named Joey! Talk about wonderfully whimsical -- with a Chef named Joey, (who is fully determined to "blow our minds") how can we not smile and be grateful? I bet the best food EVER is yet to come!

If I could name each member of our staff - from the Landscapers, to Facility Maintenance, to Outside Services, to Players Clubhouse, to Pro Shop to the Dining Facilities - I would. In fact I would not only name them but I would do my yoga hands-to-heart-center pose and bid them "Namaste" because I think that the work they do is truly divine.

Seeing that it is October - here is the trick -- you've GOT to come to the Club, gaze upon its glory and let the crew treat you to a wonderful time. From grand and glamorous wine dinners to even the simplest breakfast burrito at the snack shack, its our for the taking, brought to us by a team of professionals who care deeply about our ultimate enjoyment. As Auntie Mame said, "The world is a banquet - yet most "folks" are starving." (Actually instead of "folks" she used some more colorful language, but I for once decided to take a higher road. That is why she was on Broadway, and I am sitting in front of my iPad...)

So when I hear "Rancho Days" is shall always think of the true "Rancho Daze" which is the dazzling array of wonderful times we have in store for us at our Club! From now on I might only be seeing Charles Osgood on the radio, but I hope to be seeing you and your guests at the Club week after week, month after month, and year after year!
