Eyewitness to a Hole-In-One!
I’ve never seen a live ace before but on Tuesday, September 20th,
Nancy Rickerson had a hole-in-one on No. 7 using her 9 iron. Alice Rohdy, Janet Arnold and I witnessed Nancy’s fabulous shot! Our arms flew up, we all cheered and hugged. The fellows playing on No. 3 - their arms flew up and cheered, and even the fellow behind the construction fence by No. 7 - his arms flew up and he cheered! So there was a big audience for Nancy!
Congratulations, Nancy, on your First Hole-In-One!
Ace of the Month - Because our print deadline for the Divot falls before all the games have been played for the month, we are running one month behind. That said, Congratulations to August Ace of the Month Kathy McElhinney with a 74. Good job, Kathy!
September Wrap Up
Battle of the Sexes - 9/02 - This was a fun tournament - and a very, very close match. The Average Net Score of the Ladies was
41.3, while the Men squeaked by with a
40.9 - that was a teensy, weensy win of
0.4! So while the guys enjoyed their steak and lobster (some were known to pass tastes across the table), china and silverware and a printed menu, we ladies remained composed and enjoyed our delicious chicken pot pie served on paper plates, plastic silverware, newspaper for placemats and a hand-written menu on post-it notes! It was a Hoot!
Ladies Par 3 Meeting Day
- 9/06 - Again, lots of fun, with the golf skills of a few really shining through! And the Winners were:
Gross - 1st -
Char Delaney with a 53
2nd -
Janet Christ with a 60.
Net - 1st -
Diane Culp - 46
2nd -
Pat Coseo - 48 | These 3 women had
3rd -
Alice Rohdy - 48 | a card-off to break
4th -
Michele Homan - 48 | their tied scores.
President’s Cup Final - and -
Consolation Stroke Play Event - 9/08 - We all waited around the 18th hole to cheer Kate and Deb as they came up the 18th fairway.
Kate Grace was the winner of this year’s President’s Cup.
Deb Gustafson was a tough competitor for Kate.

During the celebratory luncheon we honored our Past Presidents in attendance: (top L to R)
Libby Frank, Carol Freeland, Dolores Crawford, Joan Flowers, (bottom L to R)
Marla Hess, Kathy McElhinney and Becky McKinney.
Chapman Couples Tournament - 9/18th -
Congratulations to the Champions:
Gross Winners -
Jeff & Madeline Javelet with an 87
Net Winners -
Bill Danola & Laura Drummond with a 68.
Ladies Guest Day was originally scheduled for September 13th but because several other local clubs had theirs scheduled for that same day, our Board rescheduled ours for November 8th. Don’t miss it this year - be sure to sign up.
Sea Challenge Champions - Our own Rancho Santa Fe team won the Trophy this year for overall Net! The celebration was at the Farms on September 15th. The trophy is proudly displayed in our trophy case for the year. Congratulations to a great team!
